HTML view does not work on Windows XP Sp 2

Symptoms

After applying upgrading the Windows XP operating system to service pack 2 (Sp 2) the previewing the HTML source does not work. Instead of the HTML code popping up in Notepad an error page is displayed indicating that the page could not be found.

Cause

Microsoft have silently disabled the view-source:sURL protocol in Internet Explorer since it can be used in a non-secure way.

Resolution

This problem has been fixed in Content Studio retail version build 1002. However the solution is a workaround and the code cannot be shown in Notepad any more. There is no fix planned for Content Studio versions prior to the version 4.0 build 1002.

Status

Teknikhuset has verified this problem as beeing a part of Windows XP Sp 2. The changes do not seem to be documented by Microsoft in the list of fixes in Sp 2.
